PHAKIc IMPLANTABLE CONTACT LENSES

In 1996, Dr. Hatsis was the principal FDA investigator and the first surgeon to implant a phakic implantable contact lens in North America. Since then, his patients who are not candidates for laser vision correction have been able to enjoy excellent vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses. Patients with very high amounts of nearsightness (myopia) and farsightness that may not be candidates for refractive corneal procedures like LASIK and PRK, may be phakic implant candidates. The phakic implantable contact lens was developed as a refractive solution for these patients. The Visian ICL and the Verisyse lens are two FDA approved phakic implantable contact lenses that are available in the United States. Dr. Hatsis specializes in both lenses, having extensive experience in this treatment and regularly performing these procedures in the offices of Long Island Vision Experts/Hatsis Laser Vision.
